Baby, Baby: 16 Week Bumpdate

The Kidlets
via

How far along?
16 weeks!  Four months... and if I carry to the typical 36-37 weeks for twin moms, I only have about five months to go. Wow!
Genders?
Hopefully we can let you know shortly after January 5...
How big are they?
Three of my apps say as big as an avocado, the other says dill pickle.  But we're going to not think about that second option, because this is one pregnant momma whose pre-pregnancy hatred of pickles has NOT changed!!

Have you started to show yet?
Yep, no denying I'm pretty pregnant!  But yesterday at a (totally routine) EKG, the techs thought I looked tiny for 16 weeks with twins.  I don't FEEL tiny, and I love it :-)

Weight gain?
I avoid scales unless the doctor makes me, so I don't know ;-)

Maternity Clothes?
Oh yeah.  Only sweats and a few pre-pregnancy long shirts are still cutting it.

Stretch Marks?
No new ones...

Belly Button In or Out?
Still in.
Momma's Feeling

Cravings:
Someone mentioned strawberry sauce on a picture I posted to Facebook, which made me think of raspberry sauce, which made me desperately crave a Monte Cristo from Cheddars!  And this was right before Christmas, when our next several meals were planned out at other people's houses ;-)  So we handled that craving yesterday, lol.

Anything making you queasy or sick?
I'm feeling SO much better in that regard!  I still feel bubbly and occasionally throw up after gagging, but I'm not nauseated.

Happy or Moody Most of the Time?
Christmas week is always a little stressful, and we also went to my Grandpa's burial service this week, so I'm not sure what my mood would be without that stuff.  But I think I've been a little calmer through Christmas hustle than I usually am :-)

Movement:
Some!  It's not constant, and not even every day, but we've had some fun movement moments.  A couple nights ago, I was about to hop in the shower before bed, and I was twinging a lot on one side.  I put my hand over Baby A and pressed in a little.  I felt that baby (it's so hard not to use gendered pronouns!) push against my hand once really hard ("Leave me alone, MOM!"), then go back to the same kind of fluttering movemement we've been feeling.  :-)

Sleep:
My in-laws got me a Pregnancy Pillow for Christmas!  I've only slept with it twice, but I think it's going to change my life.  Ethan said something last night about me probably not giving it up after the kids are born.  He has a point!  This thing is... woww... it's basically the same way I've been arranging my old pillows, but it's firm and supportive, and since it's one all-connected pillow, I don't lose parts of it as I move overnight.  It even props me up on my back enough to be safe, and comfortably enough that I don't feel like I'm in a chair. :-)  Love this thing!!

What I Miss:
I could still go for a caffeinated diet coke and a hot bath...

Other Symptoms:
The burping.  Ew.  I've had some round ligament pain, but not much and not bad.  And I cried through at least two episodes of different TV shows this week...
Highlights and Coming Soon

Best Moment of the Week:
It was a wonderful week, so it's hard to choose!!  One of my favorite baby moments was when I was standing in my aunt's kitchen with her and my grandma, just three moms talking pregnancy and babies.  Baby B got excited and started poking me, and both my aunt and grandma were able to feel the movement :-)  That was pretty special :-)  Favorite semi-baby-moment: Ethan surprised me (like REALLY surprised me) with the DSLR I've been pining for for years!  I've been playing with and trying to learn all I can so that I can take awesome pictures of our little people when they get here!

Looking Forward To:
Come onnnn, January 5!  I want to know how to shop for these little ones!!

Baby, Baby: 15 Week Bumpdate

The Kidlets
via
How far along?
Today makes 15 weeks!  It sounds like such a small number compared to 40 weeks... but it's really flying by!

Genders?
Still only about 80% sure, so we're keeping it quiet. :-)

How big are they?
Crown-to-rump length is about 4 inches... about the size of a navel orange, apple, or Hass avocado (whatever that is).  When I was looking at pieces of paper I'd cut for our Christmas cards that had dimensions of 4 inches, I was just... awestruck... that there are TWO babies that big currently living in me.  Pregnancy is crazy stuff!! :-)

I'm about to pop the buttons on my favorite pajamas!  What will I do!?!?

Changing Momma

Have you started to show yet?
Oh yeah.  Although I wore a hoodie I got at my M.Ed graduation, and you couldn't see my bump.  I was a little sad about it... I don't WANT to camouflage it!

Weight gain?
No new numbers on this, but probably still around where I was last week.

Maternity Clothes?
Yep.  Only my sweatpants and a couple of extra-long tee shirts still fit, out of my pre-pregnancy clothes.  And the sweatpants are getting close. :-/

Stretch Marks?
No new ones!

Belly Button In or Out?
Still in, but shallowing...

Momma's Feeling

Cravings:
Bacon.  Really, any meat.  My meat-loving side has definitely been showing this week!

Anything making you queasy or sick?
This has been much better lately... I don't think I've taken anti-nausea meds at all this week!!!

Happy or Moody Most of the Time?
A little moody, I guess.  Not bad, I don't think, but a little more... changing.

Movement:
YES!  We both felt both of them last night, and it was incredible!

Sleep:
No complaints!  I wake up achy, but I'm sleeping. :-)

What I Miss:
I've been craving a caffeinated diet Coke pretty badly this week.  I know I *can* have *some* caffeine, and that one can is well below the recommended daily limit, but still... I feel safer avoiding it altogether.

Other Symptoms:
Burping.  Sooo much... burping!  Still fatigued, but overall, feeling pretty decent!  Oh, and one other symptom that is pretty neat, but would be beyond TMI for a blog my grandparents may read ;-)

Highlights and Coming Soon

Best Moment of the Week:
I'd been feeling these little sensations that were not quite cramps, almost more like electrical pulses, and they were usually focused in one area, on one side or the other.  When I pressed my fingers over a twinging spot, I could feel almost a pulsing, fluttering feeling... it was like bubbles rising to my fingers and breaking there.  Like resting your fingers on the surface of slowly, gently bubbling water. I consulted google to confirm my suspicions, and called Ethan over to put his hand on where Baby B was playing.  He could feel the same thing :-)  A little while later, the twinging started on the other side, and I pressed my fingers there... sure enough, same thing.  Again, I called Ethan over and he got to feel our other baby moving, too.  :-)  About that time, Baby B woke back up, and we could put our hands on both babies at the same time and feel the differences in their movements... Baby A was a little calmer, and Baby B was going nuts.  Just like on the ultrasound a couple weeks ago!

Looking Forward To:
Really excited for Christmas, of course :-)  Also, our ultrasound on January 5, when we'll confirm the gender suspicions...  and hopefully, soon after, we'll do some kind of fun gender reveal thing here.  :-)  And... looking forward to each and every time I feel these babies move!

Baby, Baby: 14 Week Bumpdate

The Kidlets
via

How far along?
14 weeks today <3

Genders?
We were given a pretty good guess this week... we have another ultrasound on January 5th, and we'll confirm then and announce after that.  I just don't want to say one way and have to take it back!!

How big are they?
At the ultrasound on Monday, they measured about 8cm each. :-)  My apps say they're each the size of a lemon, a clenched fist, or a beet.  One sounds violent, the other makes me envision two little Dwight Schrutes living inside me, so we're going with lemons ;-)

Changing Momma

Have you started to show yet?
Oh yeah.

Weight gain?
Still only up around 10 pounds or less.

Maternity Clothes?
Yep, and I got a few more pieces in this week... a couple that are super basics that I'm going to use for projects :-)  And a couple that I can't wait to wear as is!

Stretch Marks?
No new ones...

Belly Button In or Out?
Still in... but we both think it's shallowing a little.

Momma's Feeling

Cravings:
I got a whale of a craving for candy canes earlier in the week.  And I'm munching on some of those tiny ones right now :-)

Anything making you queasy or sick?
It seems like maaaaybe this is easing up a tiny bit?  I threw up once this week, but it seemed less like nausea and more of a super-strong reflux thing.

Happy or Moody Most of the Time?
I've been fairly moody this week, but we're also grieving the loss of my grandfather, so I'm pretty sure it's not so much a pregnancy hormone thing....

Movement:
Possibly?  We learned that Baby A moves fairly constantly, and Baby B goes NUTS when not napping.  :-)

Sleep:
It could DEFINITELY be worse!

What I Miss:
Baths...

Other Symptoms:
Prevacid has changed my life :-)  Heartburn was getting unbearable, but it's gone now!  Other than that, just some aches and stuff.

Highlights and Coming Soon
Best Moment of the Week:
Baaaaaabies!!  We got 45 minutes of face time with the kiddos on Monday, and it was just... wonderful.  Our ultrasound tech was a lot of fun, and taught us a lot about what we were seeing, so we felt like we were really getting to "know" them.  And we got the genetic test results back yesterday, and they place our odds at either twin having trisomy 13, 18 or 23 at 1 in 10,000 per condition.  That's the lowest odds they can give :-)

Looking Forward To:
Nothing major coming up in the next week... I'm looking forward to getting into the Christmas groove with my new little bump in tow :-)  And of course, counting down to January 5.  :-)

Baby, Baby: 13 Week Bumpdate

The Kidlets

via

How far along?
Today, I'm 13 weeks and 1 day pregnant :-)  Sorry about not posting yesterday... except not THAT sorry.  We had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas with some of our best friends!

Genders?
Still don't know.  We may get a pretty good idea tomorrow, though!  Only about 80% sure at this point, so we'll probably keep the info under our hats until we're more certain.

How big are they?
They're about as long as a pea pod, a peach, and a hot jalapeno. They still weigh a little less than an ounce each :-)
Changing Momma

Have you started to show yet?
Oh goodness, yes! (Excuse the end-of-a-long-day hair and eyes, haha!)

Weight gain?
I'm not sure.  We'll find out tomorrow... I don't watch a scale at home.

Maternity Clothes?
Yeah, about half and half.  We had a neat moment a couple nights ago when we dug out the stash of maternity clothes we'd bought a piece or two at a time when we found great clearance deals... almost everything still fits, and I have almost an entire maternity wardrobe for no NEW cost!  Yippee!!

Stretch Marks?
No new ones...

Belly Button In or Out?
Still in... but we both think it's shallowing a little.
Momma's Feeling

Cravings:
Not a whole lot lately.

Anything making you queasy or sick?
Waking up... breathing...

Happy or Moody Most of the Time?
Still happy most of the time, but moody is starting to make a few more appearances...

Movement:
Still just the "maybe?" from last update :-)

Sleep:
It could DEFINITELY be worse!

What I Miss:
Baths...

Other Symptoms:
My back aches pretty much always... but my sweet hubsband has been great about extra back rubs :-)
Highlights and Coming Soon

Best Moment of the Week:
I got my first belly pat/rub last night!!  It was really fun to be with our group of best friends and all their kids, and to finally have at least a belly, if not babies yet to add to the wonderful chaos :-)

Looking Forward To:
Tomorrow's doctor's appointment!! I get to see the doctor, and they'll do the really in-depth nuchal translucency ultrasound... we'll get lots of face time with our little ones <3 And hopefully finding out what gender/s they are!  Eep!  It's been four weeks since we've had an ultrasound, so I'm missing those sweet little wiggly kids <3
