Baby, Baby: 18 Week Bumpdate (and GENDER REVEAL)

The Kidlets

via

How far along?
18 weeks today!  I am halfway to a good, safe goal of full term for twins.  If I make it to 36 weeks, all should be totally developed and healthy :-)

Genders?
Oh, yeah... I was going to announce that today, wasn't I...?

How big are they?
At our appointment on Monday, each weighed 7oz!  They should be about 5-6 inches long, or about the length of a bell pepper or sweet potato. :-)

Changing Momma

Have you started to show yet?
Pshyeah.  I'm pretty sure I had a growth spurt yesterday, s'matter of fact!

Weight gain?
I gained a pound since the last appointment... I'm thinking 13 pounds total?  Somewhere around in there.

Maternity Clothes?
Yeah... and I'm pretty sure I just pulled my beloved pre-pregnancy sweatpants for the last time.

Stretch Marks?
No new ones...

Belly Button In or Out?
Super-shallow, but in...

Momma's Feeling

Cravings:
All the food.

Anything making you queasy or sick?
Smells... but mostly smells that would nauseate non-pregnant people too.  Like dog poo. ;-)

Happy or Moody Most of the Time?
I mood swung like it was my JOB this week!

Movement:
About the same as it has been... the ultrasound tech was impressed with how wiggly both babies are, though!

Sleep:
Could be worse!

What I Miss:
Caffeine and hot baths... I'm not getting over these two things ;-)

Other Symptoms:
The burping won't quit!!

Highlights and Coming Soon

Best Moment of the Week:
Ultrasound!!!  I love seeing my babies wiggle, and I love cooing over their tiny details... the perfect hearts, the tiny hands, the bones (femur, humerus) that are totally identifiable as perfectly formed miniatures of the ones on the skeletons in A&P class... oh!  The adorableness!!  We also had a wonderful, cozy time at Ethan's Granny's house last night with most of that side of the family.  We showed them the ultrasound video and cut a gender reveal cake.  We have a pretty great family! Speaking of great family... here's who we're going to be adding to it in the next several months...

Baby A: our daughter, Baby B: our son.  Ohmygosh, we have a daugher and a son y'all!

Looking Forward To:
Talking about baby names... decorating the nursery... all the stuff that comes next, I guess <3

Baby, Baby: 17 Week Bumpdate

The Kidlets

How far along?
17 weeks

Genders?
We'll know for sure in two more days :-)

How big are they?
They each should weigh about as much as a turnip?  About five inches long, and weighing about five to six ounces. One other source compared them to onions, and another said pomegranates.
Changing Momma
Had a hot date with my hot husband last night - we saw "Unbroken" as part of his Christmas present :-) Not my usual kind of movie, but I still really enjoyed it!
Have you started to show yet?
Yeah... you could say that :-)

Weight gain?
I got weighed this week... I think I'm up about two pounds since last time, so about 12 pounds total?

Maternity Clothes?
Yeah, and a lot of nightgowns :-)

Stretch Marks?
No new ones :-)

Belly Button In or Out?
Soooo shallow.
Momma's Feeling

Cravings:
Nothing really all that noteworthy this week, I don't think...

Anything making you queasy or sick?
My burps are occasionally productive, but I'm not all that nauseated.

Happy or Moody Most of the Time?
Peaceful and content...

Movement:
I can still mostly only feel them with my hands.

Sleep:
My CGM has kept me awake quite a bit, but other than that, I'm sleeping fine...

What I Miss:
Hot baths, caffeine.

Other Symptoms:
Burping like craaaazy, and the round ligament pain has gotten pretty unpleasant.  I went to the doctor for it this week, because I'd read that the pains are supposed to only last a few minutes at most, and mine had been going for most of the day.  The doctor ordered an ultrasound to check my cervix, and everything looks perfect, so we're confident that it's just some really nasty round ligament pain.  He said that with twins, stuff like that is amplified. So... yay. ;-)

Highlights and Coming Soon

Best Moment of the Week:
Finding out everything was okay with those pains!!   Also, yesterday was the first time a stranger asked me about my pregnancy, so that was pretty thrilling!!  She seemed absolutely devastated for me when I told her I was having twins, which was pretty hilarious.  I assured her we were really happy and excited :-)  And one more honorable mention: I got a1c results back, and it's 5.1 - EVEN LOWER than "prediabetic" levels.  By FAR the lowest mine has ever been, and I'm so proud!  It's been a lot of hard work, but it will be well worth it for healthy babies!

Looking Forward To:
Gender confirmation on Monday!!

Baby, Baby: 16 Week Bumpdate

The Kidlets
via

How far along?
16 weeks!  Four months... and if I carry to the typical 36-37 weeks for twin moms, I only have about five months to go. Wow!
Genders?
Hopefully we can let you know shortly after January 5...
How big are they?
Three of my apps say as big as an avocado, the other says dill pickle.  But we're going to not think about that second option, because this is one pregnant momma whose pre-pregnancy hatred of pickles has NOT changed!!
Changing Momma
courtesy of my mother-in-law :-)

Have you started to show yet?
Yep, no denying I'm pretty pregnant!  But yesterday at a (totally routine) EKG, the techs thought I looked tiny for 16 weeks with twins.  I don't FEEL tiny, and I love it :-)

Weight gain?
I avoid scales unless the doctor makes me, so I don't know ;-)

Maternity Clothes?
Oh yeah.  Only sweats and a few pre-pregnancy long shirts are still cutting it.

Stretch Marks?
No new ones...

Belly Button In or Out?
Still in.
Momma's Feeling

Cravings:
Someone mentioned strawberry sauce on a picture I posted to Facebook, which made me think of raspberry sauce, which made me desperately crave a Monte Cristo from Cheddars!  And this was right before Christmas, when our next several meals were planned out at other people's houses ;-)  So we handled that craving yesterday, lol.

Anything making you queasy or sick?
I'm feeling SO much better in that regard!  I still feel bubbly and occasionally throw up after gagging, but I'm not nauseated.

Happy or Moody Most of the Time?
Christmas week is always a little stressful, and we also went to my Grandpa's burial service this week, so I'm not sure what my mood would be without that stuff.  But I think I've been a little calmer through Christmas hustle than I usually am :-)

Movement:
Some!  It's not constant, and not even every day, but we've had some fun movement moments.  A couple nights ago, I was about to hop in the shower before bed, and I was twinging a lot on one side.  I put my hand over Baby A and pressed in a little.  I felt that baby (it's so hard not to use gendered pronouns!) push against my hand once really hard ("Leave me alone, MOM!"), then go back to the same kind of fluttering movemement we've been feeling.  :-)

Sleep:
My in-laws got me a Pregnancy Pillow for Christmas!  I've only slept with it twice, but I think it's going to change my life.  Ethan said something last night about me probably not giving it up after the kids are born.  He has a point!  This thing is... woww... it's basically the same way I've been arranging my old pillows, but it's firm and supportive, and since it's one all-connected pillow, I don't lose parts of it as I move overnight.  It even props me up on my back enough to be safe, and comfortably enough that I don't feel like I'm in a chair. :-)  Love this thing!!

What I Miss:
I could still go for a caffeinated diet coke and a hot bath...

Other Symptoms:
The burping.  Ew.  I've had some round ligament pain, but not much and not bad.  And I cried through at least two episodes of different TV shows this week...
Highlights and Coming Soon

Best Moment of the Week:
It was a wonderful week, so it's hard to choose!!  One of my favorite baby moments was when I was standing in my aunt's kitchen with her and my grandma, just three moms talking pregnancy and babies.  Baby B got excited and started poking me, and both my aunt and grandma were able to feel the movement :-)  That was pretty special :-)  Favorite semi-baby-moment: Ethan surprised me (like REALLY surprised me) with the DSLR I've been pining for for years!  I've been playing with and trying to learn all I can so that I can take awesome pictures of our little people when they get here!

Looking Forward To:
Come onnnn, January 5!  I want to know how to shop for these little ones!!
